Drama Inspires Bursary
Connect, Inspire and Raise Awareness
Would you like to inspire your children and young people with something exciting in the classroom? With this bursary you might:
- Work with a theatre company or creative practitioner to enrich the teaching and learning of your pupils e.g.
- BTEC / GCSE drama – devising theatre
- Primary – exploring a text in English, or creating a historic drama
- SEND – using puppets and sensory storytelling in an Engagement Curriculum
- Partner with a local community organisation on a verbatim or devised project (Secondary or Higher Education setting)
- Create a new scheme of work on a new practitioner, style or play, with another Drama teacher locally or a consultant practitioner
- Create a transition project using Drama to support Year 6 starting secondary school
- Infuse storytelling and drama in an Early Years setting
These are just possibilities, and National Drama welcomes suggestions for any new projects that will establish, extend or enhance knowledge and understanding of drama and theatre education.
How much can you apply for?
National Drama offers up to £1,000 to support partnership costs such as: transport, cover, resources, and fees. All with the intent of supporting members to inspire students in new ways and be an active part of Drama and Performing Arts communities and practice.
Who can apply?
This bursary is open to ALL our members: undergraduates, early careers or long-established teachers; MA or PhD students; Primary, SEND or Secondary teachers who want to extend their own learning and development; a Youth Theatre director, freelance drama / theatre practitioner.

Complete the ND Bursaries application form stating why and how this bursary will help and support your professional development. Tell us a little about yourself and your work, along with details of how the bursary will be spent.
Bursary applications open on the 1st of February and close on the 28th of June, each year. Successful applicants will be notified by July 5th.
