Britt Scott – Drama Inspires Bursary
Our bursary recipient and ND member Britt Scott has a fantastic project to inspire SEND learners in a secondary setting.
Students will dive into a vibrant world of puppetry, shadow theatre, and African-inspired storytelling with Swallows Wings Puppetry, unlocking creativity, collaboration, and non-verbal communication through mesmerizing, hands-on workshops. Congratulations and Good Luck!
Following completion of the project, the resources and equipment will remain in school and be incorporated into future Drama schemes of work and SEND provision.
Morgan Hartley – Research Champion Bursary
ND member Morgan Hartley is building on an important and topical previous project with a National Drama Research Champion Bursary (resources here). With a specific focus on misogyny and online harm, this research asks: how does drama function as a safeguarding pedagogy?
In collaboration with Everyman Theatre and Manchester Metropolitan University, the project aims to: demonstrate that drama conventions create spaces for students to explore timely and sensitive issues, gather evidence about how students engage with these issues through Process Drama, and generate accessible outputs for other educators.

Eman Sokker – Conference Support Bursary
ND Member, Eman Sokker, is planning to attend an exciting Scenario Forum Conference in Tokyo, with her Conference Support bursary. Eman’s presentation will share her current research, asking ‘Can attainment and confidence in Formal Arabic Speaking Skills be increased through the use of Expressive Arts techniques both in and beyond the curriculum?’
Eman, an Arabic Language teacher, has spent over a decade working in the Middle East, and is convinced that Drama offers a powerful route into language learning, particularly for a language as rich and challenging as Arabic.
We look forward to receiving her report about her internationally significant contribution.
