ABOUT THIS EVENT

Drama can enable children to create, re-create and enter any imagined world together, to encounter and become the heroes, creatures and villains from important myths and legends. Various drama strategies can be used, to help the children to interactively explore the stories together and gain a deeper knowledge and understanding of the key characters, situations, moments and events, which they can communicate dramatically.

This session will present a Drama Unit, which is based on Beowulf. It will be explained, a step at a time. The Drama strategy choices within the lesson/s will be considered and explained, in terms of how they are intended to support deeper thinking and learning, at various points.

  • A Drama Unit based on Beowulf.

‘Patrice Baldwin is a rarity. She is one of the few primary drama experts left in this country and quite possibly the most experienced and effective drama primary teacher. Teachers on her courses, come away feeling more confident and with a broader repertoire. Her work is excellent!’

Pie Corbett

Absolutely brilliant! Patrice’s course opened doors for colleagues which they would not have believed possible. In everything she does, she walks delegates through the materials, and discusses the impact this has on children’s learning. She uses drama conventions to create opportunities for pupils to secure their learning in new and deeper ways.
