Drama as a Learning Approach for Primary Learners with Dyslexia

Join Anna Sutton, Specialist Dyslexia Teacher, Trainer and Drama Education Practitioner, for a twilight session on Thursday 16th October 6.30-7.30pm on Zoom for Drama as a Learning Approach for Primary Learners with Dyslexia. In this session, Anna will share her experience as a primary drama teacher and explain how specific techniques can be used to stimulate learning, develop literacy skills and engage learners with dyslexia. She will explore Drama as an active teaching and learning medium to benefit the learner with dyslexia.
Why this event is good to come to
This 1-hour session will provide an opportunity to develop awareness of dyslexia and specific barriers to literacy and learning for the primary learner. Anna will share the benefits of drama as a learning medium for learners with dyslexia. She will provide examples of how specific drama activities and strategies can be integrated into everyday teaching practice in the primary classroom to engage, enthuse and enable learners with dyslexia.
Session Fees
Session fee is £7.50. Members of London Drama and National Drama £5.00. Teachers-in-Training/ECTs £2.

About the session leader

Anna Sutton is an experienced teacher with over 25 years’ teaching experience in mainstream, as a Head of Drama, Specialist Dyslexia Teacher/Assessor and SENCO.
Anna has a BA (Hons) degree in Drama and English, and an MA degree in Education with a special interest in creative literacy and drama as a learning medium. She has led many creative projects in primary education and conducted research into how drama can stimulate learners with dyslexia to access literacy and comprehension.
Anna is an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA). She provides private specialist teaching, professional level training for teachers in the school setting, for the British Dyslexia Association and at postgraduate level for universities in the UK.
